7 fun games to play in the pool

Usually children know enough games themselves to play in the pool. But it can be useful to have some ideas in mind! That’s why we’ve collected some tips for games in this overview!

Anaconda (water snake)

Anaconda (water snake)

Form a chain by grabbing each other’s legs. The one in front tries to get the anaconda or water snake moving. If necessary, you can also swing with one arm.

Whistle diving

Drop a plastic whistle to the bottom of the pool. Let everyone dive in from the side, the first one can pick up the whistle and whistle once.

You could also use diving sticks instead of the whistle. Someone throws the sticks into the water and the children try to collect as many as possible.

Do you have a lot of children visiting? Then you can also play a drop-out game by throwing in 1 stick fewer than the number of people present.

Water polo

Water polo

This sport originated as a water-based version of handball, and has become increasingly popular since then! Even you as a parent can join in a water polo competition with the children!

Collecting ping pong points

Collecting ping pong points

You don’t always have to dive to collect points: it’s also fun to catch floating ping pong balls. The more there are floating in the water, the more fun!

If you want to add an extra dimension to the game, write numbers on the ping pong balls for extra points.

Skipper, can I cross?

You need a lot of strength for this game. One child is the skipper and the other children must swim to the other side without being tagged.

This is extra difficult because they have to move the way the skipper ‘instructs’ them, e.g. while treading water.

Tunnel

Stand in the water with your legs apart or get one of the children to do this. Can anyone dive through the legs? Make it extra challenging by having several people stand in line and make a tunnel for the other children to swim through.

Blowing the ping pong ball

Put as many ping pong balls as participants at the edge of the pool. When the signal to start is given, everyone has to shoot their ball to the other side as fast as possible with a water pistol.

The games described above are bound to provide you with a few hours of fun in and by the pool!
