Pool chemistry for dummies

A clean pool requires some monitoring! Purchase a good tester and check your pool's values at least once a week.
Follow the steps below for crystal-clear water!

STEP 1 : measure the alkalinity value

Alkalinity helps counteract pH fluctuations. So check this value before proceeding. The ideal value is between 100 and 150 ppm. To increase alkalinity by 10ppm, add 150gr of ALKA Up per 10 m³ of pool water. To decrease alkalinity by 10ppm add 150gr of ALKA Down per 10 m³ of pool water.

STEP 2 : measure the pH value

Pool water should have a neutral pH value between 7.2 and 7.6. Only if this value is correct will your other products have the result.

If the pH value is too low, add pH Plus. If the pH value is too high, then logically add pH Minus.

Sometimes pool maintenance is surprisingly simple!

With the diagram below, you will know perfectly how many grams of pH Minus or pH Plus you need to add to get the value back to normal.

STEP 3 : measure the chlorine content

STEP 3 : measure the chlorine content

Chlorine levels should be between 1 and a maximum of 3 ppm, where 'ppm' stands for 'parts per million'. If the level is too low, bacteria and algae will have free rein in the water. If the chlorine value is (almost) 0, it is best to perform a chlorine shock. Add 160 grams of chlorine granules per 10 m³ of water.

Ideally, you should add this after swimming or in the evening so that the product can spread well.

Once the chlorine level is up to par, you can maintain it with chlorine tablets. Chlorine tablets dissolve slowly and keep the chlorine level constant. Is there too much chlorine in the pool? Leave the pool cover open and the chlorine will disappear on its own due to the sun's UV rays.

Anti-Algae

Is your pool water green? Don't panic! Use our Anti-Algae to make your pool free of algae.
First, perform a chlorine shock treatment as described above. After the chlorine shock, wait at least 24h before adding the product.

Then spread 500 ml of anti-algae product per 50 m³ of pool water directly over the water surface. This will loosen the dirt. Scrub your pool wall with a brush and the algae will sink to the bottom.

The algae can then be easily removed with a hoover. It is important that you let the filter work constantly, the continuous filtration helps dissolve the dirt faster.

Vlokkingsmiddel

Cloudy or milky water? Then flocculant can save you! It makes all the small dirt particles clump together. That way they can be removed by the filter or hoover.

For constant dosing, it is best to use solid flocculant. This can be tablets or sachets. For a 50 m³ pool, you need about 1 sachet or 2 flocculating tablets per week.  For a quick and acute solution add 200ml of liquid flocculant per 10m³.
